The Eclectic Tech Mission Statement

The mission of Eclectic Tech, LLC provides for education as well as
technological services. It is my overreaching goal to provide people,
whether they are technologically savvy or not, with the means by which they can
increase their mastery over technology, and increase their technical independence,
while also being more able to help others learn.

It is my mission to provide services with honesty and integrety, to be up-front about our expectations to our clients, employees and contractors, and to provide information about what I do whenever possible because it is insufficient to merely teach people how to fish -- it's absolutely necessary to teach people how to teach people how to fish.

This is a lofty, perhaps unreachable, goal, but it is something that I strive for anyway.

In the act of reaching towards that goal, however, it naturally dictates an organic and unstingy philosophy for my works. Achieving this goal requires active communication, translating from highly technical and incomprehensible answers to a middle ground that comprehensively answers a client's question without mystifying them. A goal so broad in scope can only be achieved through openness in communication and confidence that no one else can steal your business from me; it's the client's business whom they choose to work with and I will not let selfishness or fear of losing business lead to secrecy and attempts to lock a client in with my company as a vendor. A goal that aims for openness regarding methods and solutions requires sharing one's paid works so that others can learn from or improve upon them.

I would rather rely on satisfaction, loyalty, and quality for repeat business.

How I work to achieve Eclectic Tech's lofty goals

  • aiming to incorporate easy-to-understand tools and applications into client solutions, and training my clients in how to utilize them
  • liberating my clients from vendor-lock-in situations
  • being available for support and maintenance if required by the client while ensuring it is not made a requirement by my own practices
  • foster environments of community, collaboration, and organic culture
  • give classes and create materials with the goal of teaching people how to master technology
  • write and contribute to open-source software; using an open license on my works whenever possible
  • ensure my code is well-documented
  • provide technology services that employ standard methods so that another technician can employ standard methods to maintain them
  • explain technology to a client at a level that they can understand; help increase a client's technological vocabulary and know-how if they so desire
  • recommend resources that are clearly written for further understanding
  • create outstanding technical documentation
  • help IT departments achieve standards compliance
  • ensure that websites are both search engine and human accessible
  • leveraging my knowledge and intellectual creativity to give advice and ideas to my clients free of charge - you pay me to do, not to inspire
  • keeping my business associates and clients in business by assertively networking on everyone's behalf
