Lullaby
by Drendel
I began to have odd dreams that replaced the nightmares. I no longer truly slept, I rode in the head of another when I took my rest at night. The dreams were of another world, another time and another place. The person I rode in was elvish, but there was the end of physical similarities: her skin was so dark it was black, her hair also black, and her name meant Nightwind. She was a healer like I was, but had never caught a baby: her people didn't birth babies. Instead her powers were more towards the healing of trauma and extreme illness, where mine was easing the heart's pain and avoiding danger from the start.
When she sang, her voice was like a dream. It pulled at one, and she participated in many rituals where song was the central point pulling the people together. That's when I found myself in her head: she was singing. She was used to being ridden, she had another being in her head from the day she was born, and thus I met Warren. I found myself on this odd world, in this odd dark diminutive elvish woman's head, every night for a mortal year.
